"We hope this year's YCC program is the most successful yet, and all signs from Molokai lead us to believe we will have a great first team there," said John Leong, director of Pono Pacific Land Management, which runs the program for the state.
Teams of 10-12 high school and college-age students will be working on conservation projects in remote areas on Molokai, Oahu, Kauai and Hawaii.
"This program is an important investment in Hawaii's future," said Mike Buck, administrator of the Division of Forestry and Wildlife. "These kids are our future natural resource managers."
The program is accepting applications from participants and team leaders through the end of the month. For information, see www.hawaiiycc.com or call 808-273-5753.
