Chiyotaikai beat Kaiho (5-7) by oshidashi today to improve to 10-2 with three days left in the basho.
Asashoryu (9-3) defeated Wakanosato (7-5) in the final match of the day. Miyabiyama is also at 9-3, after he downed Hokutoriki (8-4) in the best matchup of the day.
Five wrestlers are at 8-4, with little chance left of catching Chiyotaikai.
Iwakiyama withdrew from the tournament this week after aggravating an old lower back injury. Shimotori pulled out a day earlier after he broke a left rib in a bout Monday.
Musashimaru, or Hawaii's Fiamalu Penitani, is sitting out the basho with a torn tendon in his left wrist that has been slow to heal.
