The exhibition, "Honolulu Printmakers 75th Anniversary: A Tradition of Gift Prints," opens with a 5 to 8 p.m. reception tomorrow. The exhibition celebrates the limited-edition prints commissioned for sale at each of the organization's annual exhibitions. The list of gift-print artists includes some of Hawaii's most renowned printmakers, including Hon Chew Hee, a founder of the Hawaii Watercolor Society (formerly Hawaii Watercolor and Serigraph Society); Jean Charlot, a prolific fresco muralist, children's book illustrator, writer and teacher; John Young, noted for his vibrant, calligraphic style of oils and woodcuts, and for promoting artists through his many galleries; and Isami Doi, whose nature-based works comprised poetic dreamscapes.

The 96-page catalog, with 75 illustrations, will sell for $24.95.

This year, there will be a portfolio of five gift prints from Allyn Bromley, John Koga, Hans Löffel, Wayne Miyamoto, Hiroki Morinoue and Deborah Gottheil Nehmad.

The cost of the gift portfolio is $135 for members, and $175 for nonmembers making reservations today at 536-5507. The price at and after the show will be $195.

The exhibition will be on display at the Honolulu Academy of Art's second floor galleries beginning tomorrow and continuing through April 6.

Other events are as follows:

>> Hugh Merrill, of the Kansas City Art Institute, juror for the Honolulu Printmakers 75th Annual Exhibition, will give a free slide lecture showing his recent prints, 7 p.m. Friday in the Academy Art Center.

>> There will be a tour of the Jean Charlot Collection at 1 p.m. March 23 at the University of Hawaii Hamilton Library, fifth floor.
