The USS Missouri will host a screening of a documentary on the life of U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye, shown in this undated photo.
Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, a friend of Inouye, also will attend.
The film examines how Inouye came to believe in the promises of the U.S. Constitution and set out to live according to American values and the dream of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," said Honolulu filmmaker Heather Giugni.
From his World War II heroism to his rise as one of the nation's most respected and powerful statesmen, the biography describes Inouye's lifetime of service and includes interviews with some of the nation's most prestigious political and cultural figures.
Giugni calls the biography "an unapologetic piece that examines the milestones -- even the challenging times -- in the life of one of our country's greatest advocates for social justice."
The premiere is expected to surpass even the opening ceremonies of the memorial in 1999, organizers said.
A reception will be held throughout the ship's decks from bow to stern. The film premiere will take place on the ship's pier, Foxtrot-5, Ford Island.
