Youth play features
music of Kapono

Star-Bulletin staff

The Honolulu Theatre for Youth presents "The Last Paving Stone," an original magical fantasy by veteran children's playwright Y York that will also include music performed by Henry Kapono.

The play centers around Ito, a young girl with enormous ears -- so much so that they can detect the sound of the Ground (who speaks through Kapono's music). In some undefined time in the future, the Earth is entirely paved over, save for one small spot of the Ground.

Unfortunately, Ito's father, the Paving Master, will pave over that lone spot one afternoon. With the help of Jassmin, a young girl with a nose so big she can smell a lie, Ito and the Ground plot to change the course of history.

The play is recommended for children ages 10 and up and will be held at Leeward Community College Theatre. Shows are at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, repeating March 15 and 22. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for seniors over 60 and youth 18 and under. For information, call 839-9885.
