Star-Bulletin staff

The Historic Hawaii Foundation is seeking nominations for the Historic Preservation Honor Awards in recognition of people and organizations that have helped maintain Hawaii's unique historic character.

There are three award categories: the Preservation Award, which recognizes a building, site project or structure; the Preservation Commendation, which honors a government agency or organization; and the Preservation Certificate, which honors an individual.

Organizations and individuals who have contributed to preservation projects or helped preserve the state's cultural resources and practices qualify for nominations. The selection committee is made up of invited professionals, advocates and supporters.

Nominations are being accepted until March 14. Forms are available by request from the foundation office. Contact Lori Yamada at 523-2900 or by e-mail, hhfd@lava.net. There is a $25 processing fee for each nomination.

The awards will be presented during National Preservation Week in May.
