New jobs

>> John D. Nielsen has been named executive vice president of the Gretzinger Corp., a commercial real estate investment firm.

>> Ross Yokoyama joins Island Insurance Cos. as an accounting department accounts receivable manager. He will supervise the direct bill and agency receivable units' activities. These units are responsible for researching, reconciling, collecting, posting, recording and verifying company premium transactions. He was previously at HIH America Insurance Co. of Hawaii as an accountant for premium and financial accounts.

>> Doug Jorg and Donna Davidson have been appointed management executives at Hawaiiana Management Co. Prior to joining the company, Jorg and Davidson were with Chaney Brooks and Co. on Maui.

>> John Zeitlin has been named director of consumer sales for Sprint Hawaii. He will oversee all divisions within Sprint Hawaii's residential sales department, including residential long distance sales and retention, employee productivity management and training, trade shows, and special projects. Zeitlin was most recently a product manager for Level 3 Communications.

>> Finance Factors Ltd. has hired Robin Kagimoto as a residential loan officer. She will be responsible for generating and closing residential mortgage loans. Kagimoto most recently was an accountant at University of Hawaii at Manoa and Outrigger Hotels & Resorts.

Promotions

>> Denise Yamauchi has been named managing director for Hawaii by Kazi Foods Inc. She was promoted from district manger in November. Kazi Foods operates 27 KFC restaurants and 20 Burger King restaurants in Hawaii. Yamauchi has worked for Burger King for 23 years, beginning as a crewmember in 1980.

>> John S. Fujimoto has been promoted to audit division deputy general auditor and vice president at First Hawaiian Bank. Five people have also been promoted to assistant vice president at the bank: Karen M. Fujishige, consumer service center; John K. Guerri, institutional funds management; Arlene Y. Honda, personal banking officer; Denise H. Kimura, Main Banking Center service manager; and Joanne Mark-Ajimine, First Investment Center product manager. The bank has also appointed the following officers: Julie A. Beerman to branch residential loan department real estate loan officer; Arnold Garzino to Kahului Branch business banking officer; and Raymond M. Mook to Traft Hartley Department assistant vice president.

>> Suzanne Livas was named general manager at the new Jamba Juice store in Aiea Shopping Center. It is the 12th Jamba Juice in Hawaii. Livas is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operations including scheduling, purchasing and team member management. She joined Jamba Juice Hawaii in June 2002 as the manager in training at Jamba Juice Kailua. Prior to that, she worked for Crazy Shirts Inc. for more than 10 years. Jamba Juice Hawaii is a joint venture between Jamba Juice Co. of San Francisco and JJC Hawaii LLC. It opened its first Hawaii store in July 1999.

>> Anthony Tam has been promoted to catering sales manager at the Radisson Waikiki Prince Kuhio Hotel. His primary focus is to generate business from the Chinese community. Tam has been working at the hotel as banquet captain since 1992.

>> SMG Hawaii has also promoted Jody Kono to Hawaii Convention Center marketing manager. She is responsible for enhancing the Center's brand plan and developing marketing and promotional programs including new sales and marketing collateral. She was hired by the center in 1997 as sales manager and promoted to national sales manager in 2001.

>> American Savings Bank's residential loan sales division has named Anita Deniega senior loan officer and Richard Kuga loan officer. Deniega has been the top producer in her department for five years. She previously worked for First Hawaiian Bank as a mortgage specialist. Kuga has been working in lending for more than 15 years and also comes to American Savings from First Hawaiian Bank.

>> Alfred M.K. Wong has been named chairman of the board for Maryknoll School. He is an attorney of counsel for Takushi Wong Lee & Yee. Wong's wife, Laurie (Hong) Wong, graduated from Maryknoll in 1956.

>> Castle & Cooke Realty Inc. has named Teana Vann Realtor of the Year for 2002. The award honors her accomplishment of having the highest sales volume of the year, totaling more than $7 million. This is the second year in a row that Vann earned this title. She has more than 23 years of real estate experience in Hawaii and joined Castle & Cooke Realty in 2000.

>> Americans for Democratic Action Hawaii has elected George Simson president. Simson is a retired University of Hawaii professor. Other officers are: retired ad agency owner Bea Becker, vice president; retired nurse and political activist Nancy Bey Little, secretary; and philosopher and computer student Jim Olson, treasurer. Elected directors are: hydrologist John Mink, former Democratic Party Hawaii Executive Director Chuck Huxel, Lutheran pastor and former Hospice Hawaii Director Fritz Fritschel, retired union official Chuck Armitage, and political activist Jim Brewer.

>> Hawaii Kai Jaycees has named Stan Fichtman president of its board for 2003. Fichtman is research director for Pacific Business News. Other new officers and directors are: Julie Nakata, management vice president; Jeremy Matsumoto, membership development director; Les Yanagi, community development director and public relations director; Burt Nagayama, individual development advisor; Young Yu, newsletter editor; and Mike Nitta, treasurer. The Hawaii Kai Jaycees is involved in the community through service projects such as Graffiti Busters an keiki car seat inspections.
