The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Maui Land gets boost
Maui Land & Pineapple Co., which two weeks ago announced a $5.7 million 2002 loss that was its worst full-year loss since 1993, jumped 7.6 percent this week to lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The company's stock, second in the index this year with a 16.9 percent gain, closed yesterday at $18.51.
Hawaiian Holdings Inc., parent of Hawaiian Airlines, continued to plunge as it fell 15.2 percent to an all-time closing low of $1.40. Its stock is down 31.4 percent in 2002.
