Aloha Festivals is seeking applicants for its 2003 Oahu Royal Court.

The chosen prince and princess will receive $1,000 scholarships.

Applications are available at the Aloha Festivals office at Ward Warehouse, above Nohea Gallery, and online at www.alohafestivals.com. March 3 is the deadline for applications.

Monarch Insurance company provided the funds for the scholarships, which may be used toward higher education, technical or vocational programs.

Applicants for king and queen must be at least 30 years old, while the prince and princess candidates must between 16 and 20 years of age.

Court representatives will serve one year, promoting the festival through appearances and participation in events. They must be of Hawaiian ancestry and receive arduous training in the cultural portrayal of the ancient alii. The selection process for the court will take place March 15.
