In The Mix
Action reigned
last weekendONE GOOD THING about this past weekend: There were more than enough parties going on that by the time Sunday rolled around, Valentine's Day had already faded from my memory.
Now I'm sure all you happy couples out there had a good time -- but I've got to side with the single people who blew off the holiday and went to hang out with Duane Oyama and the gang from Mass Appeal at Reign's "Exotica Erotica Party" instead of going out to dinner or doing something equally sappy. North Shore residents were lucky to have Jah Yzer and Coop D'Ville visit the Turtle Bay Resort's Bay View Lounge on Friday. They were in town last weekend for a couple of parties with the Empire Sound Crew ...
I ALSO GOT a chance to catch a movie for the first time in a while: "Soap Girl," which opened Friday at the Art House at Restaurant Row and had attracted a good crowd Sunday afternoon when I was there.
I was pleasantly surprised by Gina Hiraizumi's performance as "Asia." Hiraizumi commanded the audience's attention every time she appeared on screen. If this movie gets turned into a television series somewhere down the line, let's hope she gets a role ...
IT'S BEEN A bit cold lately with all the wind and rain we've been getting, but things are guaranteed to heat up this weekend at the Ilikai Hotel. Former Hawaii resident Flo Jalin will be in town to help promote her new "Bench Warmer" trading card. Joining her at the two-day trading card show on Saturday and Sunday are fellow "Bench Warmer" girls Maria Esposito, Katie Lohmann, Shannon Malone and Mary Riley.
Jalin's been working hard since moving to Los Angeles -- the former 24 Hour Fitness ring girl and Budweiser spokesmodel appeared on various magazine and CD covers last year, and even had a speaking role on the television show "Son of the Beach." She'll also show up as a character in the upcoming video game, Street Racing Syndicate, being developed by 3DO for the Gamecube, Playstation2 and Xbox ...
