dsegal@starbulletin.comRandy Kauhane, assistant general chairman of International Association of Machinists District Lodge 141, said union members will vote on the pact tomorrow. He declined to give any details on changes until after the vote. "This vote is going to be very crucial," he said.
The IAM represents two factions. One group consists of line-service workers and cleaners. The other group consists of customer service, reservation, ramp and office staff.
The Air Line Pilots Association, meanwhile, has reached an agreement in principle, a source close to the situation said. However, the source said, the agreement is in outline form and contract language still needs to be worked out between ALPA and the company.
No information was available regarding the status of talks with the Association of Flight Attendants.
Hawaiian, which has been seeking $15 million in labor cost reductions and $15 million in leasing concessions, has given the unions until Thursday to meet that request.
While it appears the mechanics may meet that deadline, a source close to the pilots called the deadline unworkable. Hawaiian will hold a board meeting Friday to review the concessions and plan its next move.
