ROMANTIC DINNERS

Bali by the Sea: Chef Roberto Los Banos' menu includes filet mignon and lobster en croute, ahi tempura, Three-way Duck and more, at $68 per person, $33 for children ages 4 to 11. Served 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Call 949-4321, ext. 29.

Banyan Veranda: Baked lobster tail with shrimps, scallops and clams; herb-crusted snapper with wine sauce; and more will be offered from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider. The cost is $48 per person. Call 922-3111.

The Beachside Cafe: Casual dinner will include a seafood appetizer bar, prime rib, snow crab legs, snapper and more at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider, 5 to 9:30 p.m. Costs $29.95 per person. Call 922-3111.

Chez Michel: Choose from grilled rack of lamb, seared sea scallops, Tournedos Rossini, seafood platter, lobster imperial, oven roasted duck, veal osso bucco, rib eye and spicy tiger prawns. Served 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Call 955-7866.

Golden Dragon: Menu items include shredded sesame beef, Hong Kong fried rice, cake noodles and fresh island fish and stir-fry rock lobster tail, at $49 for adults and $25 for ages 4 to 11. Served 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Call 949-4321, ext. 29.

Indigo: Dinner, offered from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., starts with the mysterious General Yang's Secret Chamber Potion, followed by oysters on the half-shell or Thai-spiced mussels. Choose from char-grilled lemongrass shrimp, thyme-flamed moi and fragrant duck curry. The cost is $65 per person with wine or champagne, or $50 without alcohol. Call 521-2900.

La Mer: A Valentine's menu awaits next Friday to Feb. 16 at Halekulani's AAA five-diamond restaurant. By light of a full moon, enjoy sautéed foie gras on crispy potato pancake garnished with artichokes and served with truffle coulis, a timbale of scallops on a bed of risotto accented with Osetra caviar, two sautéed beef tournedos flavored with pinot noir shallot sauce, and champagne sorbet. The price is $90 per person, plus tax. Call 923-2311.

Orchids: Halekulani's oceanside, open-air restaurant will start its Valentine's menu next Friday to Feb. 16 with a salad of baby lettuce, vine-ripened tomatoes and marinated fennel, or poached oysters and caviar butter; followed by beef tenderloin with truffled spinach pasta and shimeji mushrooms, or sautéed fish with a ragout of lump crab meat, haricots verts and lime and chervil butter, at $55 per person. Pikake Terrace: Chef John Hightower presents a lobster and prime rib with crab legs, seafood potpourri, clams and mussels at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. Dinner 5:30 to 10 p.m., at $32.50 per person, $12.50 for children. Call 922-5811.

Sergio's: Choose from oysters Rockefeller, tomato basil soup, filet of beef wrapped in apple smoked bacon and topped with Dungeness crab and cherry chocolate torte. The cost is $110, $150 with wine per couple. Call 949-4321.

Ship's Tavern: Enjoy an appetizer trio of crab cake, ahi tempura and smoked salmon on a potato pancake; choice of petite filet mignon or Maine lobster; and Grand Marnier strawberry mousse cake. Served 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider; $65 per person. Call 922-3111.

SPECIAL EVENTS

"Around the World": Hilton Hawaiian Village offers a room, in-house massage from Mandara Spa and a three-course dinner starting at $405 per couple. Call 947-7888.

Frank DeLima show: The Palace Showroom in the Ohana Reef Towers will be open for a buffet from 7 p.m., with prime rib, mahimahi tempura, boneless teriyaki chicken and more, at $39.95 for adults and $19.50 for children. Cocktail seatings are at 8 and 8:30 p.m., for $22. Call 923-SHOW or 922-6408.

Mystery dinner show: The evening at Dave and Buster's includes hors d'oevres, a meal and a three-act play, "Competition Is Murder." Each couple will receive champagne, a rose and a VIP Power Card. Dinner begins at 6:45 with the show starting at 7 p.m. Cost is $49.50 per person. Call 589-5007.

"Valentine's Day at Koko Marina": Enjoy salsa performances, moonlit boat rides, ballroom dance lessons and more, 5 to 7 p.m. Couples planning to get married in the next year are eligible to win their "dream wedding" valued at $1,500 from Affordable Weddings of Hawaii. Entrants must describe their dream wedding in 200 words or less. Forms must be returned by Wednesday, and you must be present at the Koko Marina Bell Tower on Valentine's Day.

EARLY CELEBRATIONS

Valentine balloon drop: Watch as 20 couples vie for prizes, noon to 2 p.m. tomorrow at Pearlridge Uptown Center Court. At stake are dinners, gift certificates and a grand-prize diamond bracelet.

Dream to Dance: Buffet, Latin and swing dance music and a dance show are part of the fun, 6 to 11 p.m. Sunday at Rumours. Call 734-0264 or 372-5574.
