Cravalho cited as
complete team player

ADRIAN Cravalho spent his third and final season at Seattle Pacific as the backup goalkeeper to junior James Ward. Cravalho did start in the Falcons final match and posted a 5-0 win over Humboldt State.

In five matches, the Kamehameha graduate had a 1.09 goals against average.

"Adrian is a walking, living definition of The Perfect Team Player. I, on the other hand, need help to be a better coach," said Seattle Pacific coach Cliff McCrath. "Adrian arrived in Seattle a zealous but overweight young man. He failed to make the active roster but did not fail to maintain his vision to make the team and continued to train until he made the roster. During his tenure he dedicated himself to a rigid training program and returned as a lean, vastly improved player.

"The next season, a young, very athletic goalkeeper/goal scorer arrived and I made the mistake of playing him in the goal. If I could roll the calendar back to the fall of 2001 Adrian would have been my No.1 keeper and Jimmy Ward -- by now -- would be closing in on some kind of scoring record. Jimmy is an excellent keeper, but with Adrian in the goal and Jimmy on the field I think we would not have missed back-to-back postseason playoffs for the first time in our history.

"In all, Adrian remained a pumped-up enthusiastic keeper and leader on our team. He is some kind of special man."

Cravalho played 911 minutes in 21 matches during his three-year varsity career. He started six matches, made 25 saves, allowed 10 goals and compiled a 0.99 goals against average.
