The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Maui Land & Pineapple Co., which rose 6.3 percent this week, now has the best year-to-date performance of any of the 12 companies in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The company, due to report earnings this month, has gained 11.1 percent for the year. The stock closed yesterday at $17.60, its highest level since hitting $17.75 on Oct. 16, 2001. Bank of Hawaii Corp. was second for the week with a 2.6 percent gain to $30.46 after reporting a fourth-quarter earnings increase of 29.4 percent.
Cyanotech Corp., last week's top performer with an 8 percent gain, brought up the rear as it fell 20.4 percent to 43 cents.
