The 38th Annual Aloha State Square and Round Dance Festival came alive yesterday with do-si-dos and sashays as dancers from Hawaii and the mainland descended upon the Ala Wai Golf Course Clubhouse. Kim Akagi, above, swung through a dance yesterday.




MANOA COURTYARD GETS SPRUCED UP

The third Campus Care Day at the University of Hawaii took place yesterday, focusing on cleaning the courtyard near Sakamaki and Kuykendall halls and the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics. Mitsuru Misawa, a UH professor in the College of Business Administration, removed dead leaves and trash around the courtyard's bamboo.




ROTARY CLUB HELPS SALVATION ARMY

The Salvation Army Food Bank and Chapel in Kaneohe received a little salvation of its own yesterday when Rotary Club of Metropolitan Honolulu members lent a hand in sprucing it up. Volunteer Carolyn Colin, above, went up high to trim a hedge. Other improvements included changing the ceiling fans in the chapel, installing shelving in the food bank and painting projects.
