All-star DJs primed
for 2-night partySALSA FANS had a great time last week celebrating the first annual "Salsa in Paradise" series of events. House and techno connoisseurs get their turn this weekend as "Coastal Collective 2003" touches down for the fourth year in paradise.
Go Ventures and Double-O-Spot have teamed up once again to present an all-star lineup of DJs from Seattle, Los Angeles and Honolulu. After holding the event at the Richards Street YWCA last year and at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park in 2001, the decision was made to expand "Coastal Collective 2003" over two days at two nightclubs.
Seattle-based Donald Glaude will headline tomorrow night at Maze Nightclub. Joining him on the decks are DJs Reza, Rene, Trek and Greg G. The 808 state will be represented by DJs G-Spot, Tony Bear, Billy G., Byron the Fur, Kavet the Catalyst, Paul Smith and Tahabra.
Saturday the party moves to the new Club Mist on South King Street. Global house diva DJ Irene will appear along with DJ Von Shock and local boys Space Cowboy, Kause, PSI and Technique. DJs Reza, Rene, G-Spot, Trek and IKON will return for a second night as well.

HELP SUPPORT the local film industry Saturday night and check out a fund-raiser for "Our Hearts Were Touched with Fire" at Club 100 (across from Iolani School). Rice Eye Productions, led by executive producer Stacey Hayashi and writer Edward Sakamoto, have teamed up with director James Nakamoto to tell the story of the 100th Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team.
Saturday's benefit will provide a chance to see the trailer for "Our Hearts Were Touched with Fire" and to meet people involved with the project. A karaoke contest and silent auction are planned, and every presale ticket buyer will receive a copy of the trailer on CD to take home.
