Humanities council
seeks grant proposals

Nonprofit groups are invited
to apply for the quarterly grants

The Hawaii Council for the Humanities is accepting proposals for grants from nonprofit groups for programs that promote awareness of "Intellectual and Cultural Traditions," "Humanities Discussions of Public Issues and Concerns" and "State, Local and Ethnic History."

Deadlines to submit quarterly proposals for 2003 are:

>> Regular grants (above $2,500): Jan. 31, May 1, Sept. 1.
>> Preservation grants (up to $5,000): March 14, June 16, Oct. 15.
>> Mini-grants (up to $2,500): Jan. 31, March 14, May 1, June 16, Sept. 1, Oct. 15.
>> Planning grants (up to $1,000) and planning grants for film or video script development (up to $2,500): Jan. 31, March 14, May 1, June 16, Sept. 1, Oct. 15.
>> Publication assistance grants (up to $2,500): June 16, Oct. 15.
>> Research assistance grants (up to $1,500): Jan. 31, May 1.
>> Media (film or video) production grants (above $2,500): Sept. 1.
