Perennial victor KSSK AM/FM is again No. 1 among all radio listeners 12 and older and among advertiser-desired adults ages 25 to 54. KSSK still the T-O-P

eengle@starbulletin.comIts morning team of Michael W. Perry and Larry Price raked up an audience more than triple the size of the nearest competition. Some 22.6 percent of Arbitron survey-takers 12 and older named the show as their morning radio destination of choice; KRTR-FM 96.3 has an audience share of 6.4 percent.
KSSK doesn't lose much when younger demographics are dropped out of the count; 20.3 percent of adults ages 25-to-54 cited the station as what they heard between 6 and 10 a.m., versus Krater with an 8.7 percent share.
The No. 3-ranked morning show on KIKI-FM 93.9 battled its way up from No. 12 in the Summer 2002 survey; No. 4 KCCN-FM 100.3 lost some ground and co-host Charly Espina since the Fall 2001 survey when it was ranked No. 2; and at No. 5 is KDNN-FM 98.5.
Perry and Price have the advantage of being broadcast on both 92.3 FM and 590 AM.
A simulcast doesn't guarantee huge numbers, as the morning show at KUMU-FM 94.7/AM 1500 lost three audience share points and dropped to No. 13 from No. 3 last fall.
The battlefield levels off when Arbitron's 6 a.m. to midnight broadcast day is averaged. KSSK-FM is still the top choice of more advertiser-desired adults but it is one of three stations which play an adult contemporary format. Classic rocker KAHA-FM 105.9, which launched over the summer, has skyrocketed from No. 19 to a three-way tie for No. 5 with adult contemporary sister-station KUMU-FM 94.7 and oldies-formatted KGMZ-FM 107.9.
