Asashoryu (6-0) won his ninth in a row dating back to the last basho by tossing Aminishiki out by uwatenage (overarm throw).
Takanohana, the only yokozuna in the field, beat Tosanoumi by okuridashi.
Katoryu, Kasugao, Takamisakari and Dejima all won their bouts to improve to 5-1 and stay within a win of the Mongolian. Katoryu and Kasagao face each other today.
Asashoryu has never gone through an entire tournament undefeated and will take on Takanowaka (4-2) today. The ozeki should have no problem with him, as Asashoryu has met him nine times and has beaten him the last eight.
