ARE YOU HOT? That was the question being asked on the rooftop at Dave & Buster's earlier this week as dozens of Honolulu residents lined up for a chance to appear on national television.

Auditions were held Wednesday for the upcoming ABC reality series "Are You Hot? The Search for America's Sexiest People." Two individuals, one male and one female, will ultimately be chosen on national television to receive $50,000 each and the title of "America's Sexiest."

Gery Cox brought up wife Kelly for his turn onstage to shows his moves and why they have five kids.

"I'm damn hot," North Shore resident Mariah Serine said shortly after her turn in front of the producers' camera.

An aspiring model, Serine was honest about her motivation for coming to the audition.

"I'm doing it because I'm broke and I'd like some work," she said with a laugh. "There's a possibility of making some money, getting some travel and some steady work, and that's all that matters to me."

For Kelly Komoda, the auditions were more about the experience than an opportunity to fly to California for the show's next round of interviews.

Ghana Douglass flashed her smile during her 15 minutes of fame with the mic.

"I'm trying to get into modeling; I'm just getting started," he explained.

The Jefferson Elementary school teacher took part in the auditions in order to build his confidence in appearing before a crowd of strangers and to feel more at ease in front of a camera.

"It's something different ... (but) just a trip to Los Angeles would be fun," Komoda said.

The first hour and a half of the auditions produced a wide variety of potential hotties. One 21-year-old Honolulu resident boldly proclaimed she was hot "because of my legs and my butt, my whole body." Another gentleman spoke of his "velvety lips" and his ability to do a booty dance.

Some in the audience weren't thrilled with what they were seeing, however.

"So when do the hot people get here?" asked one guy sitting at a table with a few friends, none of whom had entered the competition.

Others who did decide to audition were there to prove something to themselves. Reva Stout, an Indiana native stationed here with the Navy, proudly exclaimed, "I'm hot because I've had three kids and still look damn good," when interviewers asked what set her apart from the others at Dave & Buster's. Stout then proceeded to fake an orgasm to prove how hot she could be.

Auditions for "Are You Hot?" wrap up this week in Denver, Minneapolis and San Antonio. Look for the series to appear on ABC sometime around March; visit www.areyouhot.tv for more information on the show.
