Teixeira’s late basket
puts Castle past Kahuku

Star-Bulletin staff

Charles Teixeira scored with two seconds left to lift Castle past Kahuku 54-53 in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division basketball game last night.

The host Red Raiders had the ball and a 53-52 lead with about 10 seconds left in the game, but a Kahuku player attempted an outside shot that Castle rebounded, leading to Teixeira's last shot.

Kahuku had one last desperation attempt but a long inbounds pass was batted away by Castle, which is tied with idle Roosevelt and Kaimuki atop the East standings.

Castle meets Windward rival Kalaheo tomorrow.
