Island hotties wanted on TV

IT WAS a star-studded event at Tiki's Grill and Bar on Sunday afternoon: Both friends and fans of Island Rhythm 98.5 morning show co-host Augie T showed up to help celebrate the release of his latest CD, "Locally Disturbed."

Tiki's second-floor perch at the ASTON Waikiki Beach Hotel was packed, which drew the attention of passers-by heading to the city's "Sunset on the Beach." Among the local artists there to help Augie celebrate were Backyard Pa'ina, Andy Bumatai, Crosspoint, Dita Holyfield, the Ka'ala Boys, Kapena, Koa 'Uka, Ellsworth Simeona and the Gender Bender Lip Gloss Review ...

ARE YOU HOT? That's the question creators of the show "The Bachelor" will be asking tomorrow night on the rooftop at Dave & Buster's. Producers from the new ABC prime-time reality series "Are You Hot? The Search for America's Sexiest People" will evaluate the best-looking men and women from the 808 state for a shot on national television and a grand prize of $50,000.

According to contest rules, producers are looking for "America's sexiest people based upon overall sex appeal and look (including face and body)." In addition to Honolulu, casting calls are being held in Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, San Antonio, Minneapolis and Atlanta. About 40 people from each "Hot Zone" will be flown to Los Angeles for tapings next month, where the field will be narrowed to four national semifinalists from each area.

Tomorrow's casting call at Dave & Buster's starts at 6 p.m. Bring identification, and don't wear clothes with any type of logo on them -- producers won't allow you to audition. Mail-in entries also will be accepted until Friday at Warner Brothers' studios in Burbank, Calif. Check out www.areyouhot.tv or call 866-825-1870 for more info ...

AND FINALLY, congratulations to Kathleen Mei Lan Wong. The Punahou and Seattle University grad was named queen at the 54th Annual Narcissus Festival Pageant at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Sheri Sui Gee Chun, Tricia Kwai Lin Say, Allison Yuk-Ling Tai and Sue-Ping Kuo were named first- through fourth-place princesses of the pageant, respectively. In addition to other prizes, Wong receives a scholarship to Hawaii Pacific University and a trip to China as this year's winner ...
