The Makaha Sons and some of Korea's biggest-name entertainers will join in the event, presented by Korean Broadcasting System's "Open Concert."
The series, with a weekly viewership of 22 million in Korea and overseas, is usually taped at home but has also gone on the road, with concerts held in New York, Los Angeles, Japan and Vienna, Austria.
Cross is best known for "Sailing," the theme from the film "Arthur," "Ride Like the Wind" and "Laura." He has released eight albums, not counting greatest-hits packages. His first two albums produced eight hit singles, five Grammys and an Oscar.
Cross also co-wrote and sang "A Chance for Heaven" for the 1984 Summer Olympics, as well as "Loving Strangers" for the 1986 Tom Hanks movie "Nothing in Common."
His albums charted in Japan and elsewhere in Asia, and "Blink of an Eye" was a Top 10 success in Germany in 1992.
Joining him tomorrow will be Jin-young Park, Patty Kim, Alessandro Safina, Sook-sun Ahn, Young-Nam Cho, Hyun Chul, Dae-Kwan Song, Taejinah, Suloondo, In-soony, Shinhwa and Jung-hyun Lee, Hyobum Shin and Alex Lee Tano.
More than 200 people, including cast, crew and the KBS Pops Orchestra, are coming to Hawaii to produce the $1 million event.
One of the goals of the Korean Centennial Celebration is to increase cross-cultural understanding and promote positive developments in Korean and American relations. The celebration honors the first Korean immigrants who arrived on Jan. 13, 1903, and is the catalyst for creation of a foundation to identify, nurture and empower future leaders of the Korean-American community.
Since 1947 the Korean Broadcast System has been the country's leader in program production and audience service. KBS initiated Korea's television broadcasting in 1961, and in 1973 became the nation's public service broadcaster.
