ASTON Waikiki Beach Hotel recently completed a $30 million renovation, including a retro feel to its rooms. This room was done up in red aloha print.

Cool look for Waikiki

Waikiki's looking retro cool these days with the ASTON Waikiki Beach Hotel's recently completed $30 million renovation.

Check out the hotel's "hip Hawaiiana" look with rooms done up in Lava Flow Red or Succulent Pineapple Yellow color schemes. Those nostalgic for old Hawaii will find such stylish representations as beaded curtains, aloha print bedspreads, tapa print decor and rattan light sculptures.

Get to know the property with a stay that includes a free daily "Breakfast on the Beach." Just bring the souvenir zippered coolers in your room (two per room), and fill them with hot and cold breakfast-to-go items from food stations set up on the pool deck. This allows guests the choice of taking their meal back to their room to enjoy, staying on the deck fronting Tiki's Grill & Bar, taking their meal on the road or plopping themselves down on the sand at Waikiki Beach.

Rates in the hotel's Main Tower begin at $170 for a standard room, followed by $245 for a partial ocean view, $310 for an ocean view and $360 for oceanfront. Junior suites begin at $375. Rates are based on double occupancy and are valid through Dec. 22.

The hotel is at 2570 Kalakaua Ave., a few minutes from the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium.
