in victory over RamsThe Vulcans (7-3) led 33-28 at halftime and widened it to 47-35 in the first four minutes of the second half. Brady Hyde has 11 points and four assists for the Vulcans, while Abrahams contributed eight assists and five rebounds. Garreth Read and Kyle Bartholomew shared the lead in rebounds for Hilo with six.
The Vulcans play in the tournament championship against either Cal State San Bernardino or UC Santa Cruz tonight.
Abrams boosts HPU: Aaron Abrams scored a personal best 19 points and Leandro Maruoka added 16 points and 10 rebounds in Hawaii Pacific's 96-60 rout of Maryville-St. Louis at the Blaisdell Arena on Friday.
Nic Walters established a career high with 11 assists and Ty Riley scored a career-best 13 points.
Dobelle pays a visit to Quarterback Club
University of Hawaii president Evan Dobelle headlines tomorrow's meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.St. Louis School football and basketball coach Delbert Tengan and UH swimming coach Mike Anderson will also speak.
The Quarterback Club meets at the Pagoda International Ballroom, with lunch at 11:30 a.m. ($7 for non-members) and the program at noon. The public is welcome.
Bosetti 10K run to be held Wednesday
The Bosetti 10-kilometer run, sponsored by the Mid-Pacific Road Runners, will be held Jan. 1, with the start and finish at Kealahou Street across from Sandy Beach.Registration starts at 6 a.m. Fees are $5 for nonmembers and $2 for MPRRC members. For more information, call 295-6777.
Jones to speak at baseball dinner
Hawaii football coach June Jones will speak at a fund-raising dinner for the Hawaii-Hilo baseball program Jan 13.The dinner will include an auction and will be held at the Hawaii Naniloa Crown Room. Tickets cost $35 per person and are available at the UHH athletic department, Sportsline and Hilo Brokers, LTD.
Money raised from the event will be used to augment the school's budget for baseball.
