The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Four out of 12 local stocks managed gains last week, which was flat for the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index as a whole and saw the broader market finish lower. 30 percent success
Penny-stock Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc. gained 11.5 percent to end at 6 cents. Maui Land & Pineapple Co. rose 9.7 percent to $15.75. Hawaiian Airlines parent Hawaiian Holdings Inc. ended up 7.3 percent at $2.20. And Alexander & Baldwin Inc., which announced another real estate sale and acquisition in what has been a busy year yesterday, rose 1.1 percent to $26.03.
