Dodge dealers donate $10,000 to toy program
Hawaii's Dodge Dealers donated $10,000 to the Toys for Tots program after recent publicity about lower-that-expected donations this holiday season.Trey VeDova, president of the Hawaii Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Dealer Advertising Association, said the donation comes despite a downturn in business caused by labor struggles that closed West Coast docks for 11 days in the fall.
"We felt ... it wasn't fair for the children to suffer," he said.
Last year, Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealers of Hawaii raised $11,000 for Toys for Tots -- the program's largest single donation.
The Hawaii Dodge Dealers Association continues to accept toy donations at dealerships across the state and will donate a toy for every toy dropped off. Toys can be dropped off at Cutter Dodge of Waipahu, Cutter Jeep Chrysler of Waipahu, Windward Auto Sales, Cutter Pearl City, Cutter Dillingham, King Auto Center in Lihue, Kona Auto Center, Kamaaina Motors in Hilo and Island Dodge in Kahului.
