Layne Beachley won her fifth Association of Surfing Professionals World Championship Tour title at the Billabong Pro Maui at Honolua Bay yesterday while Jaqueline Silva won her first WCT contest and Neridah Falconer took the Triple Crown of Surfing title.

"Unbelievable," Beachley said. "I remember saying I was numb with shock last week when I lost, well now I'm numb with shock again. I still can't believe it's just fallen into place like it has. My destiny was in the hands of fate and I just had to resign myself to it. I was prepared to sit here all day and congratulate someone else."

Silva won the event after Beachley was eliminated in the quarterfinals, beating Pauline Menczer 17 to 12.5. Silva, who earned $10,000 and jumped to second place in the ASP world rankings, scored a perfect 10 and beat Hawaii's Rochelle Ballard 17.5 to 10.75 in the semifinals, while Menczer beat Clark 14.15 to 13.5.

Falconer won the Triple Crown of Surfing despite being ousted in the fourth round by Keala Kennelly. Falconer won the title when Kennelly lost to Ballard in the quarterfinals.
