The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. eked out a 2.19 percent gain this week to outpace 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index. The company, whose 5.8 percent dividend yield is the second best in the index, closed yesterday at $43.02. HEI leads the way
ML Macadamia Orchards LP, which has the best dividend yield at 6 percent, was just behind HEI as its stock gained 2.15 percent to $3.32.
Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc. rose 2 percent to 5 cents.
Hawaiian Airlines parent Hawaiian Holdings Inc. brought up the rear as its stock fell 10 percent to a 52-week low of $1.80. It traded as low as $1.61 yesterday.
