Cazimeros' DVD out today
LOOKING FOR a great gift this holiday season? For the first time ever, Hawaii residents and fans the world over will be able to relive the magic of the Brothers Cazimero's annual May Day celebration at the Waikiki Shell, with the release of a DVD today.
"The Brothers Cazimero 25th Annual May Day Concert 2002" contains 2 1/2 hours of song, dance and chant, and features guest performers including Leina'ala Kalama Heine, Lahela Ka'aihue, Vicky Holt Takamine and a number of local halau. An especially chicken-skin moment comes when the "Grand Man Hawaiian Band +1" takes to the stage. Hearing Henry Kapono perform "Home in the Islands" with the likes of Manu Boyd, Tony Conjugacion, Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom, the Makaha Sons, Kenneth Makuakane and Jerry Santos is worth the purchase price alone.
In celebration of today's release, Robert and Roland will appear at Na Mea Hawaii (on the corner of Fort and Merchant streets) to sign autographs and take pictures with fans from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The DVD itself will also be screened at the event, and the first 50 people through the door will receive lei. THE SPIRIT of Las Vegas meets the spirit of aloha this week at the Koolau Golf Club when "I'm Dreaming of a Las Vegas Christmas" gets under way on Friday. Local Kine Grindz hosts Bruddah Sam and Lina Girl and KCCN FM-100's Davey D will emcee the party, which includes a mouth-watering buffet and two hours of casino play.
