The crowd gathered beneath the Christmas tree at Honolulu Hale burst into oohs and aahs last night as the switch was thrown and Honolulu City Lights burst forth in all its electric glory. City spokesperson Carol Costa estimated 75,000 to 100,000 people were on hand to watch the lighting and the Public Workers Electric Light Parade. The tree and other Christmas displays along King and Beretania streets will be on display through Jan. 5.
