Old Navy to leave Pearl Highlands

The Old Navy retail store space in the Pearl Highlands Center is available for lease as Gap Inc., the San Francisco-based owner of the Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic brands, plans to close the seven-year-old store.

There are two other Old Navy stores on Oahu, one in Ala Moana Center and one in Waikele Center.

Gap and Old Navy officials were not immediately available for comment. However, the 19,600-square-foot store is listed for sublease on the Web site of commercial real estate dealer CB Richard Ellis Hawaii Inc. The listing information at www.cbrichardellishawaii.com says the Old Navy space is leased until the end of April 2005 but there are options to extend.

Pearl Highlands Center is at 1000 Kamehameha Highway.

Big Island blitzes Colorado media

The Big Island Visitors Bureau is planning a four-day media blitz in Colorado to around the Dec. 14 initiation of United Airlines' weekly direct service between Denver and Kona.

It's a good time to spark travel demand for the first few months of next year, said George Applegate, bureau executive director. Denver can serve as a hub for East Coast travelers as well as Colorado residents, Applegate said.

The flights, using 182-seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft, will run Saturdays through April 27.
