QUADRAPHONIX
CD RELEASE PARTY
ELECTRICITY OPTIONAL: Temporary electrical problems didn't stop the music as Quadraphonix celebrated the release of a new CD, "Just a Reminder Note," at the Waikiki Terrace Hotel Saturday. The quartet -- from left, Eli Clemens, Susan Copp, Shree Sadagopan and Jonathan Heraux -- went acoustic and jammed on percussion while the DJs and tech people solved the problem. With power back, they got into electric acid jazz.
FRIENDS OF GIORGIO: HPU students Miyuki Kaji, left, and Chikako Fujiwara were among the several hundred friends Giorgio Taye invited to the event he and Renee Jojola put together to launch the CD. It took a while, but the band and two DJs got the crowd dancing.
GREAT PARTY, GIorgio!: Giorgio, seated left, took a break from overseeing the party action to congratulate Quadraphonix and rapper Jamal Mamalias, seated right, on the new album. Mamalias, who is featured on one of the songs, joined the quartet to deliver a live rendition of "Nu Neus" during the first set. Not to take anything away from the guys in this tight acid jazz ensemble, but Copp rocks on acoustic bass!
