Ticket deadline today
for mens volleyballToday is the last day to renew season tickets for Hawaii Warriors volleyball.
Season-ticket holders from last season may renew in person at the UH ticket office in the Stan Sheriff Center. Call the UH ticket office at 956-4482 for more information.
The Warriors have NCAA final four participants Ball State, Penn State and Pepperdine on their home schedule this season, as well as Stanford, Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara.
2 Hawaii teams reach Pop Warner nationals
The Kalani Falcons and Pearl City Highlands Colts will be representing Hawaii in the Pop Warner National Championships at Orlando, Fla.Kalani beat Hawaii Kai 8-6 to earn the berth, and outscored its opponents 179-35 despite having only 18 players on its roster. The Falcons will play two games in the Division II bracket.
Pearl City is in the Division I bracket.
Kalani will play its first game Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. Hawaii time, and its next game will be Dec. 14 at 4 p.m.
The Colts play Dec. 11 and Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. Hawaii time.
Cheer squads from Kahaluu, Mililani, Kailua and Pearl City Highlands will make the trip to compete in a national cheer and dance competition.
Karate championship slated for Sunday
The 43rd annual Hawaii State Karate-Do Championships will be held Sunday at the Halawa District Park Gym.George Kotaka and Elisa Au are expected to defend their titles just a week after representing the United States at the WKO World Karate Championships in Madrid, Spain.
Na Koa banquet Dec. 8 in Waikiki
The Na Koa football club will be holding its annual awards banquet Dec. 8 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.Tickets are $50.

Nic Walters, Hawaii Pacific basketball: The senior guard from Salinas, Calif., scored a career-high 33 points on 13-for-24 shooting from the field and 7-for-8 shooting from the line in an overtime win over Carleton College of Minnesota Thursday. [ Top Performers ]
Walters also collected eight rebounds and dished out three assists in 43 minutes.
Kaala Lo, Brigham Young-Hawaii volleyball: The sophomore setter from Mililani is back in championship form after a midseason injury, passing out 53 assists and putting away two service aces in the Seasiders' 3-1 win over Cal State San Bernardino in the regional final. She recorded 40 assists and dug up 17 balls in the semifinal.
