LIHUE >> The Kauai Police Department identified the man arrested for allegedly concealing the corpse of a baby as Todd Richard Goetz, also known as "T" or "Uncle T."

Goetz was arrested under the name of David Tucker after he admitted burying the newborn infant given birth by his girlfriend, Maria Alexander-Hahn, according to police. Alexander-Hahn, who was eight months pregnant, had made the difficult 11-mile hike into Kalalau on Kauai's Na Pali Coast on Nov. 16, went into labor, and the baby was born after midnight on Nov. 17, police said.

Goetz told police the baby was stillborn, so he buried it somewhere in Kalalau Valley, police said. He refused to accompany detectives to help them find the baby, and a police search was unsuccessful.

At the time of his arrest, Goetz told police his name was David Tucker, but he could not provide any form of identification. Goetz was released on $100 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on the misdemeanor charge on Nov. 19, but he failed to show up. A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest. Kauai police learned of Goetz's true identity by matching his fingerprints with his prior arrests on the Big Island and the mainland.
