On the Scene
STORYTIME WITH THE BEAMERS: Keola Beamer and his wife, Moanalani, shared a story from his new book, "The Shimmering -- Na'olili," during a book-signing party at Na Mea Hawai'i in downtown Honolulu on Tuesday. Moanalani helped Keola act out the story, and added to the comic impact of the performance by using a duck call to "honk out" each crude or risque word.
ALOHA FROM MEL: Melveen Leed congratulated musician John Bryan, center, and musical director Clarke Bright on a great opening night for "Fiddler on the Roof" at Windward Community College's Paliku Theatre on Thursday.
THE PINEAPPLE UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE WAS ONO!: Mento Mele of Xreme 104.3, second from left, greeted Na Palapalai -- from left, Kuana Torres, Kehau Tamure and Keao Costa -- during a CD party at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider on Thursday. Sean Na'auao also performed, 99.5 "The Breeze" broadcast the show and Mele's ohana brought a pineapple upside-down cake.
