Waikiki Joy Hotel gives kamaainas a dream stay
The Waikiki Joy Hotel is offering a "Sweet Dreams" package for kamaaina, just in time for a little holiday season R&R.Hawaii residents visiting the boutique hotel for a minimum of two nights will enjoy welcome Guavalada smoothies at Cappuccinos, champagne and chocolates; use of an in-room Jacuzzi with Hawaiian bath crystals; an hour of karaoke at GS Studios; a daily continental breakfast and newspaper; and a coupon book offering $700 in savings at restaurants and visitor attractions.
Rates are $205 for the first night and $89 for each additional night; $245 for a club suite ($109 each additional night); and $325 for a one-bedroom suite ($148 each additional night) this year.
The promotion runs until Dec. 23, 2003. Rates next year will be, respectively, $215 ($95), $245 ($110) and $345 ($160).

Annual kamaaina passes are available for Maui's acclaimed theatrical production "'Ulalena." The pass includes unlimited premium seating for one year, 10 "buy-one-get-one-free" drink coupons, four backstage passes, a souvenir program and one complimentary beverage pass redeemable in the theater's VIP lounge.Kamaaina pass holders can also buy an unlimited number of show tickets for guests attending the same performance.
The pass is $125 and good for one calendar year from the date of purchase. Performances take place at 6 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Regular adult admission is $45 for a standard seat and $55 for a premium seat. Call 808-661-9913.
"'Ulalena" tells the story of Hawaii from the "Kumulipo," the ancient legend of creation, to the rediscovery of Hawaiian native culture in the 1970s.
Ten cast members will perform Dec. 6 and 7 in Washington, D.C., as part of the National Geographic Society's music and arts performance series. The shows will coincide with Hawaii stories appearing in the December issues of National Geographic and National Geographic Traveler.
