Students from Dole Intermediate lined Kamehameha IV road in front of their school yesterday, waving signs that asked passing motorists to watch their speed. The sign wavers were there in conjunction with the Honolulu Police Department and AIG Hawaii's "Hot Spots" program that tries to make motorists aware of driving safety.

More than 1,200 students from Heald College took part yesterday in the "Battle of the Majors," a benefit for the Hawaii Foodbank and the Marines' Toys for Tots program. Among those participating was Verney Wasc, who did not quite manage to catch a water balloon tossed by teammate Ernie Cachero during a water-balloon-tossing event.
