Daniel P. deGracia, Pacific regional manager of Spectrum Healthcare Resources in Honolulu, has received the 2002 William Newcomer Healthcare Executive of the Year Award from the American Academy of Medical Administrators.

He was cited for his service as a colonel in the U.S. Air Force where he was deputy command surgeon at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

He was recognized for "outstanding executive performance and exceptional community service impacting health-care delivery in special reference to initiative, innovation and performance results in the U.S. Air Force."

The academy said deGracia's work "has consistently demonstrated the philosophy that health-care management should provide a setting for delivering the maximum level of quality care with dignity and human concern."

DeGracia is a credentialed lifetime fellow of the academy and past chairman of the board of directors.
