phone in turkey dayFor many, cooking on Thanksgiving is a sacred thing, but for others it's just a hassle. If you're in that latter category, you might want to order in for the holiday or perhaps eat out. Here are some suggestions:
Getting it to go
Kahala Mandarin Oriental: Gourmet Turkey-to-Go Dinner includes 10- to 12-pound turkey with gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed and sweet potatoes, plus Brussels sprouts with bacon, ciabatta bread, artichoke-mushroom salad and pumpkin pie. Serves 4; $110. Orders by noon Nov. 27, 739-8742. Pickup can be arranged for Thanksgiving eve or day.Kakaako Kitchen: Ready-to-bake pumpkin pies are sold with crust and filling packaged separately so you can fill the crust and bake the pie fresh at home. All events are for Thanksgiving day only:Hilton Hawaiian Village: Three-course turkey lunch is offered 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Rainbow Lanai and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Niumalu Cafe & Bar. Cost is $24 ($12 children). Bali by the Sea's three-course dinner includes entree choice of turkey, turkey confit, grilled onaga, rack of lamb or a shrimp/scallop dish; 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $59 ($27 children). Rainbow Lanai dinner buffet features prime rib, turkey, mahimahi, roast lamb, pork loin; 4 to 9 p.m. Cost is $39 ($19.50 children). Village Steak and Seafood offers three-course dinner with entree choice of turkey, lobster tail, moi or prime rib; 5 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $46 ($23 children). Call 949-4321.

Plantation Cafe, Ala Moana Hotel: Buffet dinner includes seafood bar, roast beef, turkey, Coconut Rum Raisin Pork Loin, steamed clams and bouillabaisse; 5 to 9 p.m. Cost is $28.50 ($13.50 children). Vegetarian alternative
The Vegetarian Society of Hawaii and Govinda's Restaurant offer a vegan menu on Thanksgiving eve, Nov. 27.The menu includes gluten turkey and "faux ham," and the fixings, including green beans almondine, baked apples and pumpkin pie. Seatings at 5 and 7 p.m. Cost is $12 ($8 children). Call 595-7369.
Govinda's is in the Hare Krishna Temple in Nuuanu.
Other events
Master Chef's Series VI: Chefs Donato Loperfido and Philippe Padovani present a four-course dinner, 6 to 9 p.m. next Sunday, at Padovani's Restaurant.Each course consists of a dish from each chef: Swordfish Carpaccio/Profiterole of Grilled Oysters; Fresh Egg & Porcini Mushroom Tagliatelle with Boar Ragout/Ravioli Confit of Duck; Pan-Seared Hawaiian Seabass/Roasted Langoustines; Angus Beef Tenderloin with Marrow Crust/Squab & Truffle-Sautéed Foie Gras.

Seascapes & Sunset Reception: The Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki Hotel offers a free wine tasting and art viewing on the fourth Friday of every month. This week's event features seascape artist Al Hogue. The wine to be featured is the Kendall Jackson Pepi, an Italian blend of chardonnay, pinot grigio and sangiovese. Call 949-3811.
