Ozeki Asashoryu, who has beaten Musashimaru four of nine times and never lost to him twice in a row, pushed Miyabiyama out last night to improve to 7-0 at the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament.
Asashoryu is the last unbeaten in the tournament, with only Musoyama and Akinoshima at 6-1. Asashoryu has never won a tournament in the Makuuchi division after 171 bouts.
It was Asashoryu's sixth career win over Miyabiyama, and his fifth straight dating back to the Nagoya tournament last year.
Asashoryu will take on young Takamisakari, who is 4-3 in this tournament but has never beaten him in two tries, tomorrow.
Yokozuna Musashimaru, or Hawaii's Fiamalu Penitani, withdrew from the tournament with a wrist injury yesterday.
