‘Click it or Ticket’ program
coming back to Hawaii

Star-Bulletin staff

The state will launch another "Click It or Ticket" program Monday to get motorists to buckle up.

Police in all four counties will issue tickets to people who are not properly wearing their seatbelts. They will also ticket drivers if children are not restrained properly in child safety seats.

During the last wear-your-seatbelt campaign in May, police statewide issued 4,734 citations for seat belt violations and 169 citations for failure to use child safety seats.

After the campaign ended Hawaii had a 90.4 percent seat belt usage rate according to state officials.

The new campaign will run through Dec. 1.
