Garbelotti blasts
24 kills in HPU victory


Susy Garbelotti led Hawaii Pacific with 24 kills, and chipped in 10 digs, three blocks and two aces as the Lady Sea Warriors swept Montana State-Billings in Billings, Mont.

HPU (13-8, 6-3 Pacific West Conference) downed MSBU (8-17, 3-7) 30-24, 30-28, 30-21.

Three other HPU hitters finished with double-digit kills: Teisa Fotu (11), Sandra Brunke (10) and Briana Marinas (10).

Brunke led the Lady Sea Warriors with a .412 hitting percentage and Garbelotti hit .360.

Olivia Munro paced Billings with 10 kills.

Hawaii Pacific and Billings play again today. Senior night for Garbelotti is Saturday against Brigham Young-Hawaii at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Priory.

Hawaii professor wins counselor award

Dr. Judy Daniels, a professor in the University of Hawaii department of counselor education and a team psychologist for Rainbow men's basketball, has been named the American Counseling Association's Counselor of the Year.

The 26th annual Gilbert & Kathleen Wrenn Award for a Humanitarian and Caring Person recognizes Daniels' work in helping homeless children and at-risk adolescents, as well as her work with husband Michael D'Andrea in promoting the psychological development of UH student-athletes.
