Takata gets more gold in judo


Iolani graduate Taylor Takata won a gold medal in the Pan American Judo Union Senior Championships on Saturday.

Takata also won the event last year.

USA athletes finished with a gold, silver and bronze medals, and placed fifth at the Pan American Judo Union Senior Championships on Saturday.

In the team tournament yesterday, both the USA men's and women's teams lost to Cuba. The women could not continue because of injuries. The men subsequently lost to Canada.

Basketball tickets go on sale tomorrow

Individual game tickets for Hawaii's upcoming men's basketball season go on sale tomorrow at the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office.

For the first time, individual game tickets will be separated into tiers.

Tier I tickets cost $15 for lower-level seats and include all games except contests in the Rainbow Classic as well as matchups against Fresno State, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech and Nevada.

Those games cost $16 for Tier I lower-level seats.
