Marimed Foundation's Kailana Program has incorporated taro farming to reach troubled teens. Yesterday, some of the boys in the program weeded a new taro loi in Kahaluu as part of their therapy. The program currently serves males ages 14 to 18 and provides them with individual and family therapy, on-site education and activities such as ocean voyaging, paddling and other hands-on activities.
