The Big Island is enjoying some of the heat from Hollywood's heightened interest in Hawaii. The ABC Family cable network has renewed the relationship reality series "The Last Resort," which will film 15 new episodes this month at Kona Village Resort.

The show, with former "Baywatch Hawaii" actor Kalai Miller returning as host, will air in mid-January.

The series highlights the stories of couples who are at a crossroads, as they work with relationship coaches to decide whether to stay together. Nine couples' stories will be told during the new season, with three stories highlighted at a time over five episodes each.

"The Last Resort" debuted as a five-part reality miniseries this summer and was also filmed in Hawaii.

ABC-TV has also completed filming its celebrity edition of "The Mole" on the Big Island with "Spin City" co-star Michael Boatman, "Living Single" regular Kim Coles, "L.A. Law" veteran Corbin Bernsen, "Dinotopia's" Erik von Detten, Stephen Baldwin, Kathy Griffin and former model Frederique.

The show, hosted by Ahmad Rashad, is expected to air in January.
