Toy campaign begins

Toys for Tots starts its annual statewide campaign tomorrow at Pearlridge Center, Uptown Center Court.

The public is encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to help launch the drive, run by the Marine Corps. Last year's Hawaii campaign was the most successful to date: Toys for Tots distributed more than 65,000 toys to 33,000 children islandwide.

Pearlridge Center is providing a free ticket on the Pearlridge Express Holiday Train for each donation. The train will run Nov. 23 to Dec. 31.

Festivities tomorrow include entertainment by Halau Hula Olana, Ellsworth Simeona and Kapena.

For information on the event, call Pearlridge, 488-0981. For information about Toys for Tots, call Gunnery Sgt. Richard Stampp at 257-1077, Ext. 233.

Art for the home

The Contemporary Museum is offering a way to give homes an updated look via artSALE 2002.

The noon to 4 p.m. Sunday event gives novice and experienced collectors an opportunity to purchase the pre-selected work of emerging artists from Honolulu's burgeoning arts community. Prices of the pieces range from $80 to $1,000.

In addition to art at affordable prices, there will be entertainment and food for sale.

Museum admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. Call 526-1322.
