India film tops "Mr. and Mrs. Iyer," the India film about the possibilities of a random encounter offering hope for those caught in a violent conflict, took top honors as best feature film in the 22nd Annual Hawai'i International Film Festival's Golden Maile Awards announced last night at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

The Maile top documentary is "Spellbound" (United States) which follows eight young competitors from their homes around the country to the national spelling bee in Washington, D.C. The film will be screened 6 p.m. Sunday at the Doris Duke at the Academy at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.
Honorable mention went to the Rell Sunn biopic "Heart of the Sea."
The Blockbuster Video Audience Award for Best Feature is New Zealand's "The Maori Merchant of Venice" directed by Don C. Selwyn; Best Short film is Jackson Bauer's "Kahoolawe"; Best Documentary is Stephanie Castillo's "An Untold Triumph: America's Filipino Soldiers."
The Aloha Airlines Hawaii Film & Videomaker Award went to Leah Kihara's "I Scream, Floats, and Sunday."
The NETPAC award was won by the Chinese film "Ogya."
