Cayetano will speak
at veterans ceremony

The state Department of Defense, including the Office of Veterans Services, will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.

Gov. Ben Cayetano and Maj. Gen. Edward Correa Jr., the state adjutant general, are scheduled to deliver remarks and place a wreath at the Memorial Plaza Monument.

The program will feature the 111th Army Band, Hawaii Army National Guard, a musical interlude by Nalani Olds, a parade of flags and a lei presentation by Hawaii's veterans organizations, a 21-gun salute and a helicopter fly-over.

The 29th Infantry Brigade memorial rock will also be dedicated to 20 Hawaii Army National Guard personnel and nine Army reservists who lost their lives in combat and noncombat while called up for the Vietnam War.

Aloha attire for civilians is requested. Military attendees are requested to wear service dress, Class B or equivalent attire.
