Going ‘Wild’ at the
night club’s fake beach

SCRUPLES Beach Club --which isn't on a beach, incidentally -- normally hosts bikini contests on Thursday nights, but a special one will be added on Wednesday, Nov. 13. That's the day the club will be hosting E! Entertainment's "Wild on Hawaii." This segment will be part a larger E!'s "Wild" program. Owner Fred Piluso is inviting all who'd like to come in their sexiest beachwear to enter the competition that night, and maybe get on camera. "Wild On" host Cindy Taylor and some other celebs she's lined up will act as judges. It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it. Need any help? ...

MORE TV exposure for Hawaii is upcoming, but these won't be "Wild." Discovery Channel's Travel Channel plans to highlight four Hawaii properties for its "Great Hotels" show, now in its second season and available in 91 million homes. Samantha Brown, who hosts the show, says the former afternoon program will move to prime time on Thanksgiving night. PineRidge Film and Television, which produces "Great Hotels," will film on Lanai for the Lodge at Koele and the Manele Bay Hotel, on Maui for the Grand Wailea and on the Big Isle for Four Seasons Hualalai and Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows ...

Thumbs Up for Keola

FILMMAKER Kenneth Martinez Burgmaier has his documentary, "Kiho Alu (Loosen the Key) Keola Beamer" at the Hawai'i International Film Festival. He's had two successful screenings locally with standing ovations, and has won at four international film festivals. He even sent a copy to Roger Ebert, who's giving it a big "Thumbs Up." Burgmaier is a busy fellow. He's also producing the two Wynton Marsalis TV specials which will run nationwide on Viacom's Bet Jazz Network. He also hosts the longest running jazz TV series around, Jazz Alley TV, seen in more than 80 countries ...

SPEAKING of the film festival, tonight's the night Emme Tomimbang will be screening her "Hawaii to New York -- The Aloha Spirit Lives." A full house is already in place for the showing at the newly named Doris Duke Theater at the Academy of Arts ... There's a real life diva in town, and we're not talking J. Lo or Madonna here. She's Diana Soviero, opera's internationally acclaimed singing sensation. Opera star Soviero will be holding four master class sessions for Mae Z. Orvis Opera Students Saturday and again Monday through Wednesday at Orvis. It's a rare opportunity for opera students to work with one of the world's top artists. For more info, or to secure a seat for the free event, call Erik Haines at 593-7273, Ext. 21 ...

Gone, but not for long

LITTLE Mickey Graue will be sorry to see Ben Cayetano turn over the governorship reins to Linda Lingle. Mickey is the 6-year-old in Cayetano's arms in a large airport photo which will shortly be coming down. Mickey won't be out of the public eye -- or at least ear -- for long. His voice can be heard in a recording in the upcoming HPU production of "Death of a Salesman," whose director is his grandma, Joyce Maltby. His dad, Dennis Graue, is arranging the music for the show ...
